Summary | 0000435: Status bar reports >100% of file received
Description | Using NetSurf test build (29 Jan 2006 12:30). Bug observed on both Iyonix (RISC OS 5.10) and Risc PC (RISC OS 4.39). Often I have noticed that the percentage received of a file (as reported in NetSurf's status bar) exceeds 100%, at which point the value becomes meaningless. This is presumably because the original estimation of the file size was incorrect; e.g. "Received 21.87 kB of 40.00 B (55982%)". For all I know this is a server-side problem, but it happens with tiresome regularity. Even if NetSurf is not at fault, it would be nicer if the total size and percentage received were replaced by "?" when the no. of bytes received exceeds the supposed file size; e.g. "Received 21.87 kB of ?". I attach a screenshot showing the phenomenon.
Additional Information | element3260 added a note on Tue Mar 3 06:27:01 2009 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make NetSurf better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest NetSurf build? Thanks in advance. element3260 added a note on Tue Mar 3 06:27:01 2009 Just as a note, this is not a problem with the GTK version (since we do not display % received). mittens added a note on Sat Mar 24 16:54:41 2007 Logged In: YES user_id=1227467 Originator: YES This bug is definitely still around because I noticed it today with the 23 Mar 2007 22:45 test build of NetSurf. It is much more noticeable with a slow internet connection (which is why I hadn't seen it for a while). This is on my Risc PC with RISC OS 6. I have attached a screen shot of NetSurf's status bar (15937% received). At the time I was navigating through a usenet discussion in Google groups: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.acorn.programmer/browse_thread/thread/bd5a28a46016b0c6/61d95b4326be1874#61d95b4326be1874 File Added: silly.png nobody added a note on Thu Feb 2 21:43:55 2006 Logged In: NO One that I never got round to reporting. Received 0.00 B Received 225.00 B of 225.00 B (100%) Received 0.00 B of 225.00 B ... Received 15.35 kB of 225.00 B (10220%) Processing document Formatting document Loading 16 objects ... It looks as though NetSurf is receiving two separate files, the first 225.00 B in size and the second file much larger. I wonder if the problem could be that the total file size is not reset after receipt of the first file? mittens added a note on Wed Feb 1 00:41:02 2006 Logged In: YES user_id=1227467 Also with http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4666480.stm mittens added a note on Tue Jan 31 21:53:14 2006 Logged In: YES user_id=1227467 I noticed it happening again today with http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4665498.stm Text Build (29 Jan 2006 12:30) on RISC OS 4.39. bursa added a note on Sun Jan 29 20:13:18 2006 Logged In: YES user_id=453739 I've never seen this problem.
