Summary0000651: Sort failure in hotlist.
DescriptionWhen sites are added to the hotlist, they add sucessfully; however, if I then move these sites into another directory in the hotlist, this sorting is not preserved when NetSurf is quitted and re-loaded.

Thanks for the offer; I'll send the hotlist file later this afternon.

Best wishes,

Peter.

I think it'd be simplest if you sent me your hotlist file, then I can attempt to reproduce the issue (if I still can't, then we're doing something different ;). If this is ok with you, send it to jmb202@ecs.soton.ac.uk

Cheers.

Sorry; I should have said that I add sites by adjust-clicking on the hotlist icon.

Peter.

Thanks for this help.

I tried moving out and reconstructing the hotlist, and it only worked up to a point. The first directory I constructed saved OK, and was still as I left it when I re-ran NS. However, I then made another directory, and saved three more sites into it; this then didn't reappear as it was sorted on re-running.

Obviously I have something malformed somewhere, but I wonder what?

I'm now back to my original partly-unsorted hotlist.

Best wishes,

Peter.

Can you try moving your hotlist file (Choices:WWW.NetSurf.Hotlist) away, starting NetSurf and then try adding/moving entries to the default hotlist. I'm completely unable to reproduce this which suggests that there's something strange with your hotlist file. Also, how are you adding sites to your hotlist?

Sorry for the slow response; just got back from holiday yesterday.

Yes, it still happens with the latest build, and that then produces the bbc site cookies problem mentioned elsewhere on this tracker, so I've reverted to the older version till cookies are sorted.

I'm afraid that the exact instructions as to how to reproduce it are more or less as in my posting! :-)

1) Add a site to the hotlist.

2) Sort this site to an appropriate place in a directory in the hotlist.

3) The next time NS is run, the site is now back where it was originally put before the sort.

Best wishes,

Peter.

I am unable to reproduce this. Does it still happen with the
latest build? If so, can you provide exact instructions on
how to reproduce it please.
